Paul Hirsch Biography
Northeast Ohio has been my home pretty much my entire life. I was born in Cleveland Heights, lived in Walton Hills after graduating high school, moved to Kent for college, and now I live in Uniontown (right between Akron and Canton) with my beautiful, amazing, wonderful wife Amy and my two dogs, Sophie and Max, doing my career thing and generally loving life.
In order to maintain some semblance of sanity, I try to travel as much as possible. So far, I've logged extended visits in 26 states and six countries in the Americas and Europe. It's a start. I highly recommend renting a car and setting out across southern France for sunshine and wine. That's about as awesome a trip as you'll ever have, better than any cruise or resort vacation, trust me. I recently picked up bowling and skiing again, two of my favorite hobbies/sports as a child. I'm not quite as good as I was then, but that's what I get for getting older I suppose.
In real life, I'm a Web designer and developer. Before getting into online media, I was headed for a career in radio/tv. I flirted with the idea of becoming a piano performance major, but I figured this was one of those instances where taking something I love and turning it into a career would eventually ruin the magic for me. I went beyond radio/tv because I thought it might be a good idea to earn enough to feed and clothe myself. So I stuck with journalism/media, but switched my focus to the online world. And here I am, pursuing Web development. It's fun stuff, and doesn't require you to wear coke-bottle glasses with tape around the nosepiece, like more hardcore programmers.
Oh yeah, I'm not the film editor and actor Paul Hirsch who is best known for his involvement in the original Star Wars movie trilogy (you know, the good ones). I won't visit your college class to discuss film editing, I won't send you an autographed picture (unless you're really a fan of my Web work), and I'll be happy to read your latest screenplay, but don't count on it getting into a producer's hands through me. Sorry!
